A dream cabin came true

Amalie Snøløs

Amalie Snøløs is an influencer, entrepreneur and speaker . Recently, she introduced her own beauty brand, Snøløs Beauty. She loves the cabin in the mountains and all the experiences that come with it.

A year ago, Amalie completed an extensive cabin project, and since then she has been busy with various tasks. The process has been challenging and required several decisions to ensure that the cabin was realized according to her vision. Nature and its many opportunities were a decisive factor behind the construction of the cabin:

‘We have built a cabin in the mountains because we love everything to do with it, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, kiting, hiking and everything else! After long days out in this amazing nature, I love to sit in the TV room and switch on the projector, light candles and completely relax. Another thing we often do is sauna. It is so nice after a long day out in the snow,’ says Amalie.

Needs and expertise – an important balance

In order to realize the dream of the perfect cabin, there have been many choices to go through, which has been crucial for all the pieces of the puzzle to fall into place: ‘It was important to look at the needs, we have a large family - therefore many bedrooms are important but focus on common areas. It's important to consult with experts who can provide input, especially for those of us who built and designed the cabin ourselves! We had a lot of ‘aha’ moments together with suppliers. I thought I was going to have a light-coloured floor in the cabin, but the focus was mostly on dark!’ says Amalie.

A choice for life

Amalie has been very keen on quality and wanted a real wood floor: ‘For me, parquet is a choice for life, a quality I cannot live without. I love the feeling of a wooden floor. Nowadays, there are plenty of opportunities to choose what you want, which makes it even more important to find out what you like and what you appreciate. We were sure that we were going to have parquet in the cabin. I am incredibly happy with the floor!’ says Amalie.

Amalie opted for Oak Brown Jasper in Chaletino format in the common areas and chose Oak Vivo on the second floor and in the bedrooms. This strikes a nice balance where the dark floor forms the main base, while brightening up the bedrooms and the second floor, which does not have as many windows as the main area. ‘I wanted a slightly dark cabin, so it was important to find the right colour for the floor, it was actually one of the first things we landed on. It gives a depth and the warm, cozy cabin feeling you want,’ says Amalie.
